December, 2013 Dear Parent or Guardian, The Northview Board of Education established a program of instruction for Health &

Wellness education. One component of this Health & Wellness program is a reproductive health offering in eighth grade PE classes. At Crossroads, our goal is to help our students learn, understand, and appreciate the various stages of their growth in a positive, health environment. The eighth grade reproductive health curriculum consists of four class periods as follows: Day 1 - Abstinence (What is it? The Benefits of; & Making a Plan) Day 2 - Anatomy Review, Consequences (HIV/AIDS and other STDs) Day 3 - Consequences (Pregnancy-financial, social, emotional, and physical costs of) Day 4 - Building Healthy Relationships (Communication Skills, Healthy Relationship Strategies) By law, you have the right to excuse your child from participation for any or all of the topics. If you wish to exercise the right to excuse your child, please complete and return the form below by Monday, December 15. Alternate work will be assigned to meet course requirements. Thank you.
