Davis 1 Summary Brandt, Deborah. "Sponsors of Literacy." College of Composition and Communication. Vol. 49, No. 2.

Albany, NY: National Council of Teachers of English, 1998. 165-85. Print. Through her analysis of her interviews she found This article was mainly about sponsors and how sponsors came about throughout the 20th century. At first the apprentices of print shops were very skilled but once the industrial revolution brought steam presses the apprentices were then deskilled. Other instances of sponsors included her examples of a woman secretary who would type articles and learn writing processes from that. As the times went on it was obvious that the literacy skills required increased. The evidence of sponsors was shown throughout the times and through her many interviews. That to learn literacy there always was someone who was a sponsor of their literacy skills. that everyone had a literacy sponsor in some way and that it was very important to someones want to be skilled and acquire more literate skills. I have found that this is true that my mom was definitely my sponsor because she would get me books all the time and I used to read before bed every night until I couldnt keep my eyes open anymore and I love reading still. I think that in this article it is evident that at first literacy was an individual development and then it moved to be more of an economic development. Analysis 13 January 2013
