Tom Sawyer is shown to be a natural leader through his ability to get others to do work for him and pay for the privilege in chapter 2 of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. While like the other village boys in his love of play, he differs in his skills of persuasion and acting that allow him to direct games and avoid chores. The passage provides an impression of Tom as clever and ambitious to be a hero, while still remaining a normal boy who enjoys games like his peers.

THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER CHAPTER 2S ASSIGNMENT
What is your impression of Tom Sawyer in this chapter? In what ways was he both like and unlike the other village boys? (At least 100 words) In chapter 2 of the adventures of Tom Sawyer, what Tom Sawyer does and says through the pen of Mark Twain undoubtedly makes a deep impression on me. First, there is very vivid and detailed descriptive language used in this extract to show that Tom is a fine actor, and he cleverly uses this ability in handling his friends. Thus, I am convinced that Tom is able to use this basic understanding of human nature to get others to do his work for him and to pay for the privilege of doing it. Instead of being able to join the others at the town center, he brings the center of the town to him, has others do his work for him, and he ends up with all sorts of treasures. In this way, Mark Twain reveals Tom as a natural leader. If you read throughout the novel, you will see that Tom is the leader. It is always Tom's ideas of what game to play and Tom is always the winner in games as well as in fights with his peers. That is why it is apparent that Mark Twain would like to bring to readers Toms aspiration to become a hero just once in his life. The above evidence shows Toms differences from the other village boys, which are his ability to lead others and his strategies to temp others. However, Tom is only human, only a boy to be exact. Theres a very obvious common point that he shares with friends of the same age. That is the indulgence in playing which makes him become cuter and cuter in my own eyes. In a nutshell, it is my belief that Tom Sawyer is a whizz-kid in spite of having the adventures afterwards or not. He makes me have an admirable view on children. Word count: 305
