The last two decades have seen an enormous expansion of psychoanalytic inquiry and insights into the clinical issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) patients. This course is primarily designed to acquaint clinicians who work with LGBT patients and their families to contemporary theory and treatment approaches. The course instructor will share his own clinical material and students will be asked to offer clinical material of their own. There are no required course readings although readings may be suggested that are relevant to the clinical discussions. Some suggested background readings that students may find useful are appended below.
