Making maps!

Creating a pop-up model of Afghanistan

Cut out the base map and the pictures.

Make sure you dont cut the tabs off the pictures!

Take a red coloured colouring pencil and shade in Afghanistans neighbouring countries. Bold any international borders

The central part of Afghanistan (not the mountains or desert) can be shaded green.

Get some foil and stick it on the model to show where the rivers flow.

Fold back the tab on the Hindu Kish Mountains and stick in the labelled area.

You could shade the area under the tab brown.

Now, colour the Dashiti Mago desert in yellow.

Fold back the tab on the picture of the Taliban Insurgents and stick in the Helmand Province in the South West of the Country.

Locate the tab showing The Helmand River and label close to the Iran border.

Label Highway 1 the main route way linking the capital Kabul with Kandahar

Finally, stick your model in your book and glue the statements around it.

Dont forget to add a title

Draw arrows to locate the statements turning them into annotations.
