Insecticide Lab

I. Objective: You are going to be able to put different


insecticides to crickets and find out how fast the insecticide kills them and ten record the data.

II. Hypothesis: If Raid the best insecticide of the market, then


it will kill insects faster than other insecticides.

III. Materials: *Cotton balls


*Tweezers *Clean plastic cups

* Tape * Plastic wrap *Marker

*3 types of insecticides *Crickets * Stop watch *Scissors

IV. Procedure: 1. Label 4 cups (1 Maxide, 1 Hot Shot, 1 Raid,


& 1 Control)

2. Cut 4 pieces of plastic wrap to fit on top of


cups, and 4 pieces of tape to secure plastic wrap around cup if necessary.

3. Get 4 crickets 4. Put 1 cricket in each of the labeled cups. 5. Loosely put plastic wrap over top of cup to
prevent cricket from escaping

6. Get 2 cotton balls sprayed by each of the


insecticides, and 2 unsprayed cotton balls for the control cup

7. Set stopwatch 8. Lift plastic wrap and place the cotton balls
for the appropriate cups at the same time

9. Start stopwatch 10. Secure cup with plastic wrap & tape if
necessary

11. Record data & observations on table

Part III: Observations*/Drawings *When we put the cotton balls with insecticide during a certain time, the Crickets started to throw up and some of the Crickets started losing some legs because of the insecticide.
