Lynn English 1102 Reflection Letter I truly think that I have improved as a writer from being in this English class. Due to many of the writing assignments and projects we had, I was constantly writing for a whole semester. I think my best piece of writing that I made this semester was the creative writing assignment. For this assignment I really let all of my creativeness flow and just wrote a great story, at least thats what I thought about it. I only revised one piece of work during this class and that was the family tree writing assignment. When I originally turned it in, I received a D. Obviously I knew I could do much better than this so I worked very hard, put all of my writing skills into the paper and came out with a revised grade of an A-. While revising that paper, I could really see the difference between the two pieces and I really saw how my writing was improving. While making this portfolio, I really got to re look at all of my writing and see how much I have improved from high school. I have really stepped up my writing game since I have become a college student. Before I would make the writing piece, I would always gather information that I would write about and make a rough draft. For example, for the short term research paper, I gathered a lot of information on Lance Armstrong and his steroid use, then I composed a rough draft and finally after that, came the final draft. One thing that I really think that I need to improve on with my writing is the amount of detail I give and how I organize it. Giving detail has always been my problem when it comes to

Yates2 writing, all throughout high school and I still struggle at it today, but I am improving. As long as I keep making rough drafts and focusing on giving the most detail I possibly can, I know I will keep improving. When I turned in my family tree project, I really thought it gave a lot of detail about my family and my familys history. For the creative writing project, I thought that I really showed how creative I am and how easy I can write a story. And for the short term research paper, I thought I really showed how I can take information and process it into a well written paper. I actually had a lot of fun being a part of this English class, I really learned a lot and I know that I will keep improving my writing skills until I become the best writer I can possibly be.
