Loring Wiedemanns Philosophy of Teaching

I believe that:

Every student is unique and has a different set of needs to be met in the classroom. Every student has the right to be heard, but the responsibility to listen to others opinions and ideas.

The classroom must be a safe learning environment for everyone. Every student must respect the differences between individual students. Teacher- student respect must be mutual. Fostering self-respect in students is fundamental for students. Clear rules for classroom behaviour are necessary, though must be tempered by empathy.

Presentation of lesson plans and a variety of assignment styles to keep students engaged.

I value: The power of bringing life experiences into the classroom. To question, respectfully, the information provided by media sources. Trying new or different experiences outside of ones comfort zone. The benefit of travel to broaden ones personal world view.
