The Denver Police Department in conjunction with the DEAs (Drug Enforcement Administrations) will participate in National Prescription Take-Back Day, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. This national event takes place the same day across the country. In Colorado, over 75 locations will be accepting expired or leftover prescription and over-the-counter drugs from the public. The purpose of this annual event is to insure the environmentally safe disposal of such medicines, and to reduce the likelihood of drug misuse or abuse. Note that these sites cannot accept needles, mercury thermometers, oxygen containers, chemotherapy or illicit drugs, radioactive substances, or pressurized containers.
