The movie Romero is about the life of Oscar Romero, an archbishop of El Salvador and all of his fellow priestess,

who are trying to stop the violence that is going on. The movie shows the hard times and the sacrifices that Oscar did to help and serve the people of El Salvador. The church begins to see the discrimination and the unfair treatment of the government to its people. The poor ones get treated badly and are deprived of their rights as a person belonging to that country, they are even stopped when trying to vote. Assasinations, executions, and disappearances become very common. There are a lot of things that had caught my attention while watching the movie. One of the events that moved me was how people are still faithful to their church even though they know that the government is against them. Another one is how people in the church remain ignorant as to what is going on around them. This movie is completely about the relationship between the government and the church. While the government remains abusive towards their own people, they turn to the church for help. Oscar was a man who did not live for himself, everything that he did was to help others. He changed in many ways after his friend Father Grande was killed, the little boy and also a girl named Lucia, whom he asked of what did she think that he should do. He gave them all a special funeral. Two of the priests were against him but they later turned around and apologized. Romero grew in his view by speaking out for the poor people and their rights, by praying and hoping that misery would go away and that everyone could be safe and

happy. He toured the country and was shocked to learn about the lack of medicine, low wages and terrible treatments of workers , spoke out against the regime and called for an end to it. He was broadcasted on the radio every Sunday , so the people could hear about his ongoing fight for peace. He even seeked for help from Pope in Rome and the US President. Oscar Romero was born on August 15, 1917 and died on March 24, 1980, an assassin fired from the door of the church when Romero is saying mass for his recently deceased mother and shot him dead. Oscar Romero remains Monsenor in everyones lives, his spirit guides them, encourages them, and comforts them as he promised history that life, not death , would have the last word. I do not believe in death without resurrection, he said.
