Over the years, I have worked closely with the former Associate Director, Vivian Clausing, in the planning of Youth Encountering Spirit, youth masses, and youth ministry connection meetings and have been in contact with her regarding this position. I am excited that this opportunity has arisen during what I feel is just the right time. For seven years now, I have been actively involved in Youth Ministry and Confirmation programs, gradually obtaining leadership positions throughout my time of service. I was first a Confirmation retreat leader simultaneously at St. Andrew and St. Augustine churches then became the Retreat Director at St. Andrews. I taught High School Confirmation for six years there while also taking on the position of Youth Coordinator for the parish. Currently, I continue to lead the youth in this role and also provide support for the Teen Music Ministry by providing training and annual reflections. Since I helped to raise my churchs youth ministry from the ground up, starting with 10 members to now 40 members, I understand the hardships and challenges that new Youth Ministers undergo, and can provide my experience and support for their success. At present, I have connections with the youth ministry programs at St. Augustine, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Brunos, Our Lady of the Angels, and Our Lady of Mercy. Such types of connections are beneficial in the gathering of resources for new Youth Ministers. In a unique sense, I have the technology skillset much-needed for working in the 21st century. With extensive knowledge of Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Photoshop, and Google Sites, I have been able to create advertisements for events and keep the youth, parents, and community members up-to-date with the latest information. I also have elementary knowledge of the Tagalog language, being half-Filipino and half-Spanish. In two months, I will be receiving my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology, which has also given me further knowledge and experience in working with youth.
