J:: Hello, everyone, welcome to the Personal MBA Business Crash Course.

My nam e is Josh Kaufman and I have someone you may not have been expecting on this cou rse. This is my wife, Kelsey. K:: Hi! J:: And one of the fun things that I thought wed do for this course is C Kelsey is actually in the position that a lot of you are in right now. So, Kels, tell ev erybody about what youre up to. K:: Well, my background is actually in music and theater so I really need to co me to this course like a lot of you guys do, too. Its like I really want to do so mething with business, but I dont want to go back to school with business. I have kind of a creative background. I want to put together a website right no w that kind of brings together yoga and things you can do at home. And Im trying to put together an information product. And I have all the ideas, but I dont exac tly know how to put it into a business form. So, lucky for me, this course has come along and I have front row seats. J:: Yeah. K:: So, here we go. J:: And its fun because you dont have a business background, but you do have busine ss experience. K:: Well, I took a little bit of a break from theater about four years ago and I actually got involved. I got a really cool opportunity to be the manager of th is amazing bridal atelier in New York. So, I got a lot of really amazing, like, high-end sales experience and just kind of learned trial by fire. So I know a lot about sales just through that, but I dont necessarily know about how to be the one in charge of how to make everything else work. J:: Yeah. K:: So, Im looking forward to it. J:: So street smart, not book smart, yet. K:: Yeah. J:: So its really fun because I figured instead of putting together a bunch of Po werPoint presentations or you looking at my smiling mug the entire time. We could just have a conversation and, really, this entire course is going to be a conversation between us and you. K:: Yeah. J:: And the s decisions. industry C this course intent of the course is to help you make clear, good, solid busines And business is a relatively new term. The terms for it used to be doing something useful, and prudence C making good decisions. And so, is about doing both, business in a very classical sense.

How do you make good business decisions regardless of who you are, what youre tryi ng to sell, what youre product is, what your industry is, what your background is. Theres really a core set of things, a very small set of concepts that you really

need to know in order to make good business decisions, and thats what the course is about. K:: And, hopefully, I will be here to ask the questions that you would want to ask if you were here. And if there are some things that I miss, at the bottom o f every page, youre going to be able to submit some questions that Josh will answe r. J:: Yeah. So with any of these videos, if you have a question, below the video youll see the comment section, just leave it right there. The other way that you can ask questions or get some additional help is, up at the top, there is a but ton that says "questions." And if you have any problems or theres something thats no t clear or you have something more specific that you want to ask about, go up th ere and leave your question. And let me know if youre planning on being on the ne xt mentorship call, which are currently being held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If youre going to be on the next call, let me know and we may actually handle it o n the call there. K:: OK. J:: Or just, you know, let me know that youre not going to be on the call so I ca n answer it, you know, either via the website or, you know personally. K:: OK J:: So the format, as you can say, short videos, we have, believe it or not, ab out 200 vides to shoot so K:: Two hundred and twenty. I counted last night. J:: So youre definitely going to get your moneys worth in terms of educational conte nt. Its going to be fun. The videos are going to be somewhere in between 5 to 10 minutes long, depending on the topic. Some topics are a little bit shorter tha n others. K:: Sure. J:: But, originally, we are planning on doing longer sections and as we are pla nning for the course, it made more sense to break it up into smaller chunks. Bu t you get more of them. So K:: And whats nice is that I think, at least for me, when I was working before an d we were talking about these things its, like, we would be talking about one thin g and then, like, for the next three days I would see it everywhere. So it really C when you have it in a little nice concise little box, it helps you really start to apply it pretty immediately rather than being bugged down with too much information. So I think it will be a good way to work. J:: Yeah. And it makes it a lot easier to come back and review the material be cause it doesnt take a whole lot of time K:: Sure. J:: which is harder to do that with a longer form. Now speaking of which, you ha ve a lifetime membership to this course which is really good for you than us. W e are going to be applying what were teaching in the course, to the course, and a huge theme that youll see in this course is experimentation and continuous improve ment.

So were going to be trying a lot of things. What youre seeing is a constant evoluti onary process. Were going to keep improving and improving and improving and impro ving. K:: Just like 1.0. J:: Yes. [Laughter]

J:: And its the C next generations are going to be better but since youre here, youre going to get to benefit from all of that. So, all in all, I think its going to be a really fun course. We C as you can see, were not scripting, were not doing any of these stuff. Its just us and you and a lot of good material. So Im really looking forward to going through this experience with you and hopeful ly you get a lot out of it. So we will see you in the next video. Thanks for p articipating. K:: Bye!
