CABLING (a) All cables of the EPABX should be atleast 6 away from the electrical cables. (b) They should be away by atleast 12 from the area of high frequencies like tube light chokes, etc. If it is not possible to avoid, then use shielded cables and earth the shield. EARTHING Earth connected to the EPABX should not have more than 5 volts on it. GOOD EARTHING Voltmeter reading between N & E must be more than 100mV and less than 5V

For 308A Junction line numbers are 71, 72, 73 and extension numbers are from 20 to 27 For 616A Junction line numbers are 71, 72.... 76 and extension numbers are from 20 to 35

ALARM (Except for 308AE) Two independent alarms can be set at an extension in any one of the following modes: 1. Alarm for the same day 2. Alarm for any time in next 30 days 3. Daily Alarm
Procedure: Dial 58 +1/2+HH+MM+QQ Get assurance tone where, 1 & 2 stand for 1st or 2nd alarm H = hours in 24 hours mode MM = minutes. QQ = 00 for same day alarm. 01 to 31 as date for next 30 days 33 is entered for daily alarm Example: An extension can set daily alarm for 8:00clock in the morning and for the same day 5:30 in the evening. PROCEDURE Dial 581080033 for daily alarm OR Dial 582173000 for same day alarm At the time of maturity, extension will ring at a fast cadence to indicate that it is an alarm call and will get the music after lifting the handset, else it will automatically switch off after 25 seconds. At the time of alarm, if the System is OFF or an extension is busy then the alarm will ring whenever the extension gets free or whenever the System is switched ON. CANCELLATION OF ALARMS An extension can cancel alarm by the following procedure: Dial 111+ personal password Get assurance tone. Hook-Flash and dial 79 Get assurance tone and keep the receiver down This feature allows an extension to get connected to the busy extension as soon as it gets free. PROCEDURE On getting engaged tone, after dialing an extension number Hook flash, get confirmation tone for 2 seconds. Dial 7 Keep the handset. When the called extension gets free, both the extensions (called and calling extensions) will ring simultaneously. This feature allows an extension to access the busy Junction line as soon as it gets free. PROCEDURE

If a Junction line is busy, Hook-Flash Get confirmation tone for 2 seconds Dial 7 Keep the handset As soon as the busy Junction line/Junction group gets free, extension will receive a ring On lifting handset, extension will get Junction line dial tone

While making an internal call, if the called extension is busy or there is no reply, the user need not keep trying the extension, he can leave a call waiting message on the called extension by dailling Hook-Flash + 6. Whenever any operation is done by the extension for which call waiting message has been left (indicating that the person is back in his seat) the system will ring his extension after 10 seconds for 30 seconds. If not answered, it will keep ringing for 30 seconds after every 2 minutes. Whenever answered, it will ring on the extension, which left the message. This is a cost effective feature, which allows to control the misuse of telephone and reduces telephone bills. When enabled, calls will be automatically disconnected from a defined extension after the programmed time. The time after which the call will be disconnected is programmable as per requirement. NOTE: Refer Programming manual for the procedure.

AUTO CALL DISCONNECTION (ACD)

AUTO FAX HOMING (Except for 308AE) The System automatically distinguishes between a Fax call and a telephone call in DISA mode and transfers it to fax or phone extension. Two extensions can be programmed as Fax extensions. NOTE: Refer programming manual for the procedure.
For redialling a number automatically, follow the given procedure: To activate Autoredial, dial 50 and get the assurance tone To deactivate Autoredial, dial 51 and get the assurance tone PROCEDURE FOR AUTOREDIALLING Dial the desired external telephone number On getting an engage tone, disconnect the line Now, activate autoredialling by dialling 50 and get the assurance tone. The system keeps on dialling the external number continuously for 3 times at a stretch and then waits for about 3 minutes. This procedure is repeated 6 times (maximum). As soon as the system connects to the external number, it gives ring to the extension set in auto redialling mode for about 30 secs. (8 rings approximately) If the extension user picks the handset he gets connected to the external number, otherwise, the call is disconnected and the autoredialling mode will be deactivated automatically. NOTE: Autoredialling mode will be deactivated if any of the following steps takes place: Extension dials 51. Extension accesses a Junction line in Autoredial mode. Exchange tries for about 30 minutes (18 times maximum) and doesnt get the desired external number Extension doesnt pick up the phone till 8 rings (30 seconds) An extension can consult/transfer junction call to an engaged extension. PROCEDURE 1 For activation of this feature Dial password + Hook-Flash + 67 + Extension Number + 7 from the extension where Barge-in-Auto feature is being used. Hook-Flash, to hold the junction call

BARGE-IN-AUTO AT BUSY EXTENSION

Dial the busy extension number, wait for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, the busy extension will hear a barge-in tone and the extension he was talking to will go on hold and he can talk to the barged-in extension OR If the called extension keeps the handset, the call will be camped on or The call on hold can be retrieved by the called extension by pressing Hook-Flash

PROCEDURE 2 For activation of this feature dial passcode + Hook-Flash + 67 + Extension Number + 8 from the extension who is using Barge-In-Auto feature Hook Flash, to hold the Junction call Dial the busy extension number, wait for 4 seconds After 4 seconds , the busy extension will hear a barge-in tone and the called extension can barge-in between the two extensions or between the extension and a junction caller and can talk to them OR If the called extension keeps the handset, the call will be camped on or The call on hold can be retrieved by the called extension by pressing Hook-Flash An extension can listen to an engaged Junction line or an extension line after giving warning tone to that extension. PROCEDURE On getting engaged tone, after dialing an extension number Hook-Flash, get confirmation tone for 2 seconds. Dial 8 (On selective Extensions only) An extension can listen to an engaged Junction line or an extension line without giving warning tone to that extension. PROCEDURE On getting engaged tone after dialing an extension number Hook-Flash, get confirmation tone for 2 seconds. Dial 9 An extension can route its incoming internal and external calls through any other extension using "Call Forward" feature. The first extension becomes BOSS, while second extension works as SECRETARY. All incoming calls for BOSS will land at SECRETARY extension. Only SECRETARY is able to call the BOSS and can transfer the calls to him. BOSS can dial outside directly or ask the SECRETARY to make a call and transfer it to him. 2 junction calls can be attended simultaneously by keeping any one of them on hold. User can alter between the two any number of times. PROCEDURE During conversation with party A, Hook-Flash and dial 11 to hold party A Make another call to party B, while talking Hook-Flash and dial 11 to hold party B Dial 17 to retrieve party A This procedure can be repeated any number of times

In this feature the incoming Junction call telephone number is displayed on the LCD of the CLI phone on which the defined Junction call rings. In case of Simultaneous ring, when an incoming Junction call lands simultaneously on 4 defined extensions, CLI will be activated on all the 4 defined extensions. This feature is available only if a CLI card is attached to the system. 3 line CLI card for 308A system 6 line CLI card for 616A system This is an optional feature. CLI TRANSFERRABLE (Only for 308A) When a Junction call is transferred from an extension to another extension, the external telephone number and the extension number of the extension which has transferred the call gets displayed on the CLI unit of the extension on which the call has been transferred. When an extension calls another extension, the extension number of the calling extension will be displayed on the CLI unit of the receiving extension. An extension can transfer a junction call to another extension, even if the extension is busy. The call gets transferred/camped on to the busy extension. The busy extension gets call waiting tone and can attend the transferred call as soon as he ends the existing call. PROCEDURE Press [hold] key to hold On getting busy tone, keep the handset (Your extension becomes free and the call gets camped on to the busy extension) PICKING UP CAMPED CALL An extension, on which call is camped, can pick up the camped call by the following procedure: On hearing call waiting tone, Hook-Flash Dial 11 to park the existing call and camped call gets connected After talking to camped caller Retrieve the parked call as explained in Call Parking feature OR After finishing the talk with existing caller, keep the handset. The camped call will ring on your extension. An extension can hold a Junction line or an extension line and can consult another extension. PROCEDURE While talking, Hook-Flash to hold the existing caller Dial another extension number After finishing the talk, Hook-Flash again to retrieve first party A call ringing at an extension can be picked up from any other extension. PROCEDURE Dial 114 + Extension number, where you want the calls to be forwarded Keep the handset For Cancellation Dial 116 Keep the handset

CALL FORWARD - FOLLOW ME An extension user can keep moving from one extension to another and keep receiving his calls on whichever extension he is sitting at. PROCEDURE Dial 113 + 51 + own extension number from the extension where you want to receive calls CANCELLATION Dial 116 from your own extension CALL FORWARD WHEN BUSY An extension user can forward incoming calls to some other extension, in case of his extension being busy. PROCEDURE Dial 11 + Extension Number, where calls are to be forwarded CANCELLATION Dial 116 from your own extension CALL FORWARD WHEN NO ANSWER An extension user can forward incoming calls to some other extension, in case calls are not picked up on his extension. PROCEDURE Dial 11 # + Extension Number, where calls are to be forwarded CANCELLATION Dial 116 from your own extension An extension can make a call to another extension. PROCEDURE Lift the handset and dial two digit number NOTE: In case the dialed extension is busy, use call back facility as explained in feature Auto Call back on busy extension. An extension can park an incoming call and can retrieve the same call from any other extension. PROCEDURE: While talking, Hook Flash Dial 11 Keep the handset Exchange will remind this extension after 1.2 minutes to attend to the parked call. Parking extension can pick up parked calls in either of the following ways: PROCEDURE 1 Dial 16 Last parked call will be retrieved PROCEDURE 2 Dial 17 First parked call will be retrieved The parked calls can be picked from any other extension PROCEDURE Dial 19 + Extension number (On which the call is parked)

An extension can pick up a call ringing at another extension. PROCEDURE: Dial 4 (If the extension number is from the same pick up group) Dial 14 followed by the extension number where the call is ringing (if the extension number is not from the same pick up group) An extension can attend the call ringing at central ringer. If the central ringer receives more than one call then calls will be attended on first come first basis and central ringer will continue ringing till all the calls are attended. PROCEDURE 1(for an extension set in Operator Console mode) An extension set in operating console mode gets connected to the external call, ringing at central ringer by simply lifting the handset. PROCEDURE 2 (for an ordinary extension): Dial 13 to connect to the external call ringing at central ringer (On Selective Extensions Only) This feature protects an extension from being barged-in by any other extensions during subsequent calls. PROCEDURE Dial 118 Keep the handset For Cancellation Dial 116 CALL PRIVACY DURING A CALL (On Selective Extensions only) This feature protects a current call from being barged - in by any other extension. PROCEDURE During a call, Hook-Flash and hear confirmation tone for 2 - 3 seconds Dial 56 NOTE: After keeping the handset, this feature will cancel automatically. An extension can transfer an internal/external call to another extension. Procedure Hook-Flash and hear confirmation tone Dial the extension number to whom you want to transfer the call Wait for ring back tone, if the called extension is busy then use camp on as explained in feature Call Camp On. NOTE: In case the called extension does not pick up the call, the call will return back to the extension (who has transferred the call), after 20 seconds automatically. Call waiting facility on Junction line(s) can be activated from an extension also. This feature allows establishing upto five party conference among internal/external callers, which are parked.

CONFERENCE

PROCEDURE: Park an active extension/Junction call, get dial tone. Repeat above procedure for other parties with whom to establish the conference (Maximum 4) After having parked all calls, dial "18" to have conference among parked calls and self extension. The system can be set to receive incoming Junction calls in different mode for day and night for different Junction lines. (The procedure is illustrated in Programming Manual). Once this is done, incoming call mode can be changed by manual setting or auto setting as explained below: MANUAL SETTING To Set Day Mode Dial 112 + Night code (By default night code is 99) + 1 Get assurance tone. To Set Night Mode Dial 112 +Night code (By default night code is 99) + 0 Get assurance tone (Night code is a two digit code, set during System programming). AUTO SETTING (Except for 308AE) In Auto setting the system will switch between day and night mode automatically at the programmed timings. (The procedure is illustrated in the Programming Manual).

DAY AND NIGHT MODE SETTING

DIRECT INWARD STATION ACCESS (DISA) (Optional in 308AE) When a Junction line is programmed in DISA mode, all the incoming junction calls will be attended by the System and the caller will be greeted by a recorded welcome message. In default 11 second message can be recorded, which will be played when an external call rings on the System, for guidance to an external caller. The features of DISA are:
If the caller dials a valid extension, he gets a ring back tone and gets connected to an extension. If an invalid extension number is dialled or the caller is dialling in pulse mode or the dialled extension number is busy, after 20 seconds, the call will ring as per the service group of the DISA Junction. A caller can bypass the recorded message by dialling the desired extension number. The recorded message stops as soon as the caller dials the extension number.

PROCEDURE FOR RECORDING THE MESSAGE: Enter own supervisory mode Get the service confirmation tone Hook-Flash and dial 6985 Get beep tone for 2 seconds In the silence period record the desired message (11 seconds duration) Set the Junction line, on which you want to play the message, in DISA mode NOTE: DISA message recording time can be increased upto 40 seconds, on request. Suppose you have installed the same system in your office/factory/ residence and have connected two Junction lines in the system. One is having STD facility and the other has Local call facility only. If you are not at the place where the system is installed and you want to make STD call, you can use your STD line which is installed in system through DOSA password. You will dial your local Junction line number, which is in DISA mode. You will get the dial tone of the other Junction line, which is in your office/factory/residence. Now you can dial any STD number. All programming can be done through supervisory mode.

DIRECT OUTWARD STATION ACCESS (DOSA) (Optional in 308AE)

PROCEDURE Dial your office number which is set in DISA mode Get ring back tone Wait for assurance tone or message Now you are in internal mode of system Dial 10 + extension number + ABC where, extension number is the extension through which OPEN DOSA will perform. ABC is the personal password of the extension Get the assurance tone You will get the dial tone of other Junction line Dial the external number and wait for reply Start conversing with the external party After 1 minute you will get beep tone Press ` # to extend your call for 30 secs. or press ` 0 to extend your call for 1 minute. For longer conversation repeat the above step. To disconnect the call at any time, dial ` i.e., to disconnect the call dial star () two times.

PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USING DOSA The caller should have DTMF dialling phone One Junction line of the system should be set in DISA mode The extension, through which DOSA is to be performed, should have 0 group accessibility Atleast one Junction line (other than Junction line in DISA mode) should be in 0 group (On Selective Extensions Only) This feature allows an extension user to dial out but no one can dial the DND extension. PROCEDURE Dial 115 Get assurance tone Keep the handset For Cancellation Dial 116 Get assurance tone Keep the handset An extension can prevent misuse of dialling of STD/Local calls, by using 3-digit personal password (by default the password is 777). Password can be changed anytime. An extension can also be locked by a 3-digit code (119) without password. An extension will get class of service for outside dialing depending upon the personal settings and settings of an extension through master supervisory mode. In self-supervisory mode, one can set the class of service through personal password and can be further programmed for STD/Local status or to change their password. TO LOCK YOUR EXTENSION FOR D.O.D. Note: An extension will get auto locked after 10 seconds after keeping the handset (For Selective Extensions Only) An extension can initiate this feature whereby 4 - pre assigned extensions ring simultaneously. When any one of the extensions lifts the handset, the rest of the 3 extensions will stop ringing. PROCEDURE Dial 15 All the four pre-assigned extensions will ring simultaneously By default this feature can be initiated from extension 20 and the 4 pre assigned extensions are 21, 22, 23, 24.

EMERGENCY REPORTING

EXTERNAL CALL FORWARD (ECF) (Except for 308AE) All incoming Junction calls can be forwarded to a desired external telephone number so that important telephone calls are not missed. E,g, After office hours, on holidays calls can be forwarded to your residence or mobile. NOTE: Refer Programming manual for the procedure.
An extension can assign three digit code for dialling telephone numbers stored in global memory bank. A user can store upto 100 numbers (800 - 899) in the system. FROM MEMORY BANK 1 (800 - 849) An extension can dial telephone numbers stored in Global Memory Bank 1 by dialling 3 digit code (800 - 849) assigned to them, irrespective of status of direct outward dialling. FROM MEMORY BANK 2 (850 - 899) An extension can dial telephone numbers stored in Global Memory Bank 2 by dialling 3 digit code (850 - 899) assigned to them, provided the defined external number is allowed under the class of service of an extension. An extension can hold an Internal/Junction line call for Call Consult/ Call Transfer/Call Parking or Conference. PROCEDURE While talking, Hook-Flash to hold the caller The party on hold can be retrieved back by Hook-Flash again

GLOBAL MEMORY BANK

HOLD A LINE (INTERNAL OR JUNCTION)

This feature allows a user to increase hold time duration, when a call is on hold PROCEDURE During conversation with external caller, Hook-Flash twice with a time gap of less than 2 seconds i.e. during conversation press Hook-Flash + Hook-Flash (continuously) An extension can be programmed to get connected to an extension, external number or a Junction line on lifting handset without dialling any code. PROCEDURE FOR EXTENSION HOTLINE Dial 110 + 70 + Extension number + Hook-Flash Get assurance tone Keep the handset FOR EXTERNAL NUMBER HOTLINE Dial 110 + 70 + Jun + TN Where, TN = Telephone Number to be stored (Maximum16 digits) Jun = Junction Access Code (0 or 9 or 71,72 ... 76) Get assurance tone, if you store a complete 16 digit number. JUNCTION LINE QUEUING (For Incoming Junction) This feature enables to handle more than one incoming call. If an extension is busy, then warning tone of second call will be heard. Warning tone will continue till it is attended to or disconnected by the caller. Note: Normally this feature is useful for defining an operator for the system. While getting warning tone use call transfer, call camp on or call parking facilities to attend to second/waiting call.
An extension can assign two digit code (60 - 69) for any 10 telephone numbers. These numbers can be dialled by dialling codes assigned to them from their respective extensions. IF AN EXTENSION IS FAULTY: Isolate the corresponding cable from MDF Connect a working telephone directly at MDF Make /Receive outgoing/incoming calls from /at the telephone If the fault is still there one of the two Inductors of the extension would have burnt on the STB Card inside the EPABX. Check inductors at legend no. L1/L2 for extension 20, L3/L4 for extension 21 and similarly L15/L16 for extension no.27 in transformer STB. It is not for STB C If the telephone works perfectly, fault exists in an extension or its cabling. IF THE DIALLED EXTENSION LINE IS DEAD Engage tone can be heard - Cable is short, check from MDF Ring back tone can be heard - Cable is broken, check from MDF IN CASE OF MULTIPLE FAULTS ON DIFFERENT EXTENSIONS OR AS ROUTINE TESTING, ONE CAN TEST ALL EXTENSIONS WITH THE HELP OF TWO WORKING TELEPHONES THOUGH MDF. Disconnect all extension cables from MDF Connect one phone at one extension and another phone at another extension. Make calls in both directions. Repeat the above procedure by keeping one phone connected to one extension and second phone being connected to all other extension one by one.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

TERMS OF WARRANTY Copper Connections warrants that this product is manufactured under stringent quality standards, making it free from defects in material and workmanship, as per the following terms and conditions: 1. The limited warranty for the system is valid for a period of twelve months from the date of purchase or fifteen months from the date of manufacture which ever is earlier. 2. The limited warranty extends only to the original consumer/ purchaser of the product and is not assignable or transferable to any subsequent purchaser/end user. 3. During the limited warranty period, Copper Connections or its authorised service network will repair or replace, at Copper Connections option, any defective product or parts thereof with a new or factory rebuild replacement items and return the product to the consumer in working conditions. No charge will be made to the consumer for either parts or labour in repairing or replacing the product. All replaced parts shall become the property of Copper Connections. 4. Repaired product will be warranted for a balance of original warranty period. 5. Upon request from Copper Connections or its authorised service centre, the consumer must provide purchase receipt or other information to prove the date and place of purchase. 6. The consumer shall have no benefit or coverage if any of the following conditions are applicable: a) The product has been subjected to abnormal use, abnormal condition, improper storage, exposure to moisture or dampness, exposure to excessive temperature or fire etc., unauthorised modifications, unauthorised connections, unauthorised repairs including but not limited to use of unauthorised spare parts in repairs, misuse, neglect, abuse, accident, alteration, improper installation. b) Copper Connections was not notified by consumer of the alleged defect or malfunction of the product during the limited warranty period. c) The product was used with or connected to equipment not fit for use with Copper Connections system or used in other than its intended use. d) THE SYSTEM IS NOT CONNECTED TO A PROPER EARTH OR INCASE HIGH VOLTAGES APPEAR ON EARTH. e) THE DAMAGE IS CAUSED BY LIGHTENING ON EXTENSIONS/ JUNCTION LINES/ OR SPIKES/ SURGES/ HIGH VOLTAGES FROM AC MAIN SUPPLY. 7. The consumer may contact the authorised dealer to call the service personnel for carrying out repairs or maintenance and the same would be attended within a reasonable response time assigned to the dealer.

8. The consumer will be billed for parts or labour charges not covered by this limited warranty. 9. If the product is brought to Copper Connections for repairs, after the warranty period Copper Connections normal service policy shall apply and customer shall be charged accordingly. 10. In no event shall Copper Connections or their authorised dealer be liable for special or consequential damages or any delay in the performance of this warranty due to causes beyond their control. Copper Connections shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damage or a loss of anticipated benefits or profits, loss or impairment of privacy of conversation, work stoppage or loss or impairment of data arising out of the use or inability to use the product. Companys liability in no event and under no circumstances shall exceed the price paid to the company for goods stated in the invoice. 11. Copper connections neither assumes nor authorises any authorised service centre or any person or entity to assume for it any other obligation or liability beyond what is expressly provided by this limited warranty. All warranty information, product features and specifications are subject to change without prior notice. 12. Any dispute arising out of this warranty shall be subjected to jurisdiction of the arbitrator within the city of Delhi. 13. The decision of Copper Connections, on defects, damages etc shall be final and binding on the parties and no dispute regarding this, could be agitated before any civil court. PART NO- 308A OPR-5
