Objective: Students will be able to answer questions throughout the book. And write three reasons why bringing a mouse to school is or is not a good. Materials: Book If you take a mouse to school By: Laura Numeroff Procedure 1. Bring the students to the story rug by the tables where they are sitting. 2. Assign turn and talk partners 3. Introduce the book title and author a. Ask the students Have you ever brought a mouse to school? b. Call on a couple students who raise their hands. 4. Start reading the book 5. Stop after reading Hell probably want to share your backpack too. a. Ask the students if they think it was a good idea for the boy to share his backpack with a mouse? And why they think that. b. Call on a couple of students 6. Continue reading 7. Stop at Hell even try a science experiment. a. With their turn and talk partner if they think letting a mouse try and experiment is safe? b. After students had a chance to talk about it with their partner. Talk about it as a class. 8. Finish the story. a. Ask the students do you think it was a good idea to take a mouse to school? b. Let some students answer the question 9. Explain to the students when they go back to their seat they are going to write 3 reasons why they think is or is not a good reason to bring a mouse to school. And draw a picture to go with your reasons.

10. Students will go back to their desks by their birthday month 11. Work on the assessment Assessment: Students will get a piece of paper and it their job to recall information from the book to write down their reasons they think it is or is not a good idea to bring a mouse to school. This will work on their comprehension of the story and also work on their writing and how to express their reasons why. Management Issues/ Transition: Having students come to the rug by table and having them go back to table by birthday month. Establishing turn and talk partners at the beginning of the lesson.
