Ms. Kline Lesson Reflection: Counting in a bag I believe that my lesson went well overall.

I was happy to see that I was able to get the students attention while I was introducing the lesson and explaining it. Though at some points I lost the students attention I did re-direct the students and they returned their attention back on me. That was one of my biggest concerns, making sure the children directed their attention on me when I gave directions. When I sent the students to their seats they were very excited to go and pick their bags for the activity. I thought the children enjoyed participating in this lesson. The students had some difficulty counting the objects; some children were re-counting the objects. Therefore if I were to teach the next lesson I would teach the children that order doesnt matter. This means that the students can count the objects any order that they wanted and would still get the same total. When was observing the lesson there were many students that needed assistance with counting the objects and then drawing them on their papers. After assisting the students I noticed that they did well drawing the right number of objects on their paper with some prompting. Overall I believe that the children were able to reach the objective of The children will be able to identify how many objects are in two of the bags, and record their results with 80% accuracy. If I were to teach this lesson again I would consider having the children partner up, so that they can check each others counting. This would allow for better accuracy on the counting portion of the assignment. When I brought the students back to the carpet to conclude our lesson I think I could have done a better job with the wrap-up talk I had with the students. I began showing the students how

some of the children drew their pictures and counted their objects. I learned that it would be better for me to take the papers one by one and hold them up rather than having the children all hold them up together. The children did not know what to focus on.
