Project Introduction
Ma Anshan Iron and Steel Plant, which has 70,000 employees, is the largest industrial business in Anhui. After more than 40 years of operation, Ma Anshan Iron and Steel Plant has become one of the major iron and steel providers in China, and the Anshan Thermal Power Plant provides the plant with all of its power and heat needs. Due to the fact that heat generation produces side effects, such as high voltage electricity, heat radiation, and waste gas, that are bad for employees' health, and because of the long distance between each control station, a high level of automation and reliability are required for the thermal plant's control system. Engineers can sit in the control station and monitor the system's intelligent meters and DCS systems remotely over the network. For this reason, it is extremely important to establish a highly efficient and reliable communication network.

Moxa Solution
DCS control systems are used to monitor boilers, generators, and heat pipes. Sensor readings, such as for temperature, flow rate, and pressure, are sent to the control center, and control engineers in the control center can also control the system from a remote site through a SCADA system.

Why Moxa
Fast Redundant Ring In order to ensure stable communication between the SCADA system, servers, and stations, a more reliable communication network is needed. At the information layer, ED6008s are used to form a redundant ring since the transmission distance is relatively short. ED6008s connect servers in each station and the control room. At the control layer, ED-6008-MMs are used to form dual, multi-mode fiber redundant rings connected by ring coupling since the transmission distance substantially longer. At the device level, each DCS controller has 2 ports that are connected to 2 different rings. Rugged Design In order to achieve a high level of automation, reliability and MTBF must be taken into consideration. ED6008 and ED6008-MM-SC give system engineers the industrial strength they need, and the fanless design, redundant DC power inputs, and high MTBF ratings ensure the reliability of network devices.
