SS2 Travel Agency Project Due: April 24 (Gold) & 25 (Purple)

Objective Design a PowerPoint presentation to potential tourists (your classmates) that features landmarks (famous sites), native culture (way of life), and interesting geographic features (Nile River, etc.) to a destination in Africa. Each presentation MUST contains AT LEAST 20 slides. Each presentation should last between 3 to 5 minutes. Rationale In the past several weeks we have been learning about ancient African civilizations and the Egyptian civilization. Use your books, packets, and the Internet to highlight the must-see destinations or must-do activities in your presentation. Classroom Connection Imagine that you are giving a tour to someone who knows nothing about the region. For instance, if you want your friends to visit your native country such as India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Taiwan, Iraq, Poland, etc. where would you take them to see what your native country has to offer? What activities would you have people do so that they can have an understanding about your country? What national dish would you have your friend try? What holiday celebrations must your friend see while they visiting? What season (summer, winter, etc.) should your friend visit? The season would influence which activities and holiday events your friend will experience. Here is an example of what people might do while visiting Chicago: - Must-see Landmarks Sears Tower, Buckingham Fountain, Navy Pier, Museums, Wrigley Field, etc. - Must-do activities Michigan Avenue (shopping), attend a Chicago White Sox game (Go White Sox!!!), etc. - Must-try food items Chicago style hot dog (mustard, no ketchup!), Chicago deep dish pizza, - Major festivals Taste of Chicago, Southside St. Patricks Day Parade, Blues Festival, etc. - Major historical moments Great Fire of Chicago (1871), Worlds Fair, Bears Championship, Chicago White Sox (1917 & 2005) & Cubs (1908) World Series, etc. Useful Tips - Pick a destination in Africa that you might want to visit some day. Think about what you might want to do when you are there!
