Gabriel Begun WR150 F1 Due Feb 1 Dora Exercise Dora was a young woman who, at the age of eighteen,

started therapeutic treatment with Freud. Once the treatment had ended, Freud decide to publish the case in order to share the knowledge he had obtained with other experts on the field. When Freud decided to publish he changed many details in the story so no one could recognize who the real Dora was. Dora came to Freud because her father had previously been treated by the doctor. Dora herself was suffering from various symptoms that did not seem to have any medical explanation The symptoms included: migraines, shortness of breath, fainting spells, cough attack (that lasted for extended periods), depression and aphonia (inability to speak). In order to understand Dora's situation we must understand some of the characters of her life; Dora's mother was not very present with her daughter because she was an obsessive housewife that stayed at home for most of the day. Her father, who had been very sick with tuberculosis and had partially lost his sight was having an affair with a woman called Mrs K. Mrs K was a woman who had been very close to Dora and her husband, Mr K, had also been very close to the girl. Mr K had a desire for Dora and in two occasion he acted upon his desire. In the first occasion, Mr K kissed Dora while they were alone at a festival, Dora pushed the man away and they never talked about the incident again. The second occasion where Mr K acted on his desires for the girl was at a lake house where has made her a proposition. After studying the case, Freud concludes that Dora's symptoms are related to her relationship with Mr K and to the relationship between Mrs K and her father. On the next chapters of the book he deepens his analysis by studying mainly to dreams that Dora had.
