One of the many things to do in Paris is shopping and the city has a wealth of shopping centres within its

area. One of these is the La Galerie du Carrousel du Louvre. It is an underground shopping centre, which is located conveniently at the center of the city and is accessible from many of the top attractions in Paris.

Under the Second Empire, the Champs-lyses became the height of fashion and world-renown for its elegance. Now it is filled with chain stores, and 500,000 visitors are found on the Champs-lyses each day. The name, 'Champs-Elyses'(Elysian Fields in English), was derived from Greek mythology where 'Elusia' is a place where heroes come to relax. This impressive promenade is bordered by cinemas, theaters, cafs and luxury shops.
