Lend your Lunchtime for LGBT Rights


LGBT Awareness Week is organised to acknowledge and demonstrate that LGBT individuals are family members, community residents, constituents, citizens, visitors, service users and service providers. The purpose of the week is to advance Objective 86 of Imagine our Future, (the City Development Boards Strategy) The gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities will be enabled to fully participate in the social, cultural and economic life of Cork City.

Cork City Council HSE South VEC Dept. of Social Protection An Garda Siochna Cork City Partnership LINC Gay Community Development Cork Trans Support Group Ballyphehane Togher CDP Sexual Health Centre This year we welcome the EU Roadmap to LGBT Rights and thought where better to celebrate it than on one of the main arteries into Cork City: the Straight Road.

On May 17th IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia) Day the Cork City LGBT Inter- Agency group invites you to: Lend your Lunchtime for LGBT Rights Stand up for LGBT Rights/Stand Against Homophobia
Where: The Straight Road, County Hall Plaza When : IDAHO Day - May 17th 12.30-2pm Why: This event puts the question Who is Responsible for Equality?. Fighting for the equal rights of disenfranchised groups is often left up to members of the groups themselves we argue that a just society is to the benefit of the whole community and thus is everyones responsibility. We aim to bring together a large group of Cork citizens, both gay and straight, to stand up for their own

rights, and those of their LGBT friends, neighbours, family members, and fellow citizens.
