Now that we know what an ADAPTATION is, we are going to have some fun!
We are going to become different types of birds today. Birds eat different foods, live in different environments, and have very different beaks.
Four Different Birds With Four Different Beaks What ADAPTATION are we specializing in today?
Pelican
Woodpecker
Hawk
Sparrow
Pelican=Spoons
Woodpecker= Toothpicks
Hawk=Scissors
Sparrow= Tweezers
Adaptation Game!
Directions: 1) Each group will get a plate of items containing raisins, sunflower seeds, marbles, and gummy worms. 2) Each group will also receive scissors, tweezers, toothpicks, and spoons (which represents your beak type) and a small cup (which represents your birds mouth). 3) I will say go and you will have 15 seconds to get any type of food you can get and put it in your cup (mouth). 4) When I say stop, you need to stop getting food and then count each item that you were able to eat. Record it on your chart in the appropriate column.
Now lets see if you can match these animals to their special ADAPTATIONS!
