WEILER: Hundreds of Elon students have gathered at the universitys Alumni Gym for the 11th annual Elonthon. These students are participating in the 24-hour dance marathon as a fundraiser for Duke Childrens hospital. [:11] Each year the school raises thousands of dollars for families to help them afford treatment and medical expenses. At the beginning of their shift, the participants receive a wristband with the name of a child that they will be dancing in honor of. Rachel Stannard: Im doing Elonthon to support my sorority sister Leigha, who was a cancer patient at Duke Hospital. Kaitlyn Webster: I cant feel my feet anymore, but hearing the kids and parents talk has made nothing else matter. Everyone was crying. It was a moving experience.
