What is National Womens Health Week?


National Womens Health Week is a week long health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Womens Health. Empowering women to make their health a priority and encourages them to take the following steps to improve their physical and mental health and lower their risks of certain diseases:

xxVisit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and xxGet active. xxEat healthy. xxPay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep xxAvoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, unprotected sex,
and managing stress. not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet and texting while driving. preventive screenings.

Why Celebrate National Womens Health Week?


Women often serve as caregivers for their families, putting the needs of others before their own. As a community, we have a responsibility to support the important women we know and do everything we can to help them take steps for longer, healthier, happier lives.

The 14th annual National Womens Health Week is celebrated from Sunday, May 12, 2013 until May 18, 2013.
