Cold Case Arrest Case # 75-003545
(Grand Junction, CO)- The Grand Junction Police Department has made an arrest in a double murder case from 1975. In July of that year, 24-year-old Linda Benson and her 5-year-old daughter Kelley were found stabbed to death in their apartment in the 1300 block of N 21st Street. A photograph of Linda is attached to this news release. We have been in contact with the family members of the victims. They have asked that you please respect their privacy as they deal with these new developments. Even with the arrest, the investigation into this case remains ongoing. Because of that we are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time. He is scheduled for arraignment at 1:30pm on Friday in Mesa County District Court. Police Chief Bill Gardner, District Attorney Pete Hautzinger, and Assistant Director for the Western Slope CBI office Dave Linnertz will hold a news conference on Friday at 3pm at the Grand Junction Police Department. At that time we will be able to provide you with more information. We will not be releasing any more information until then.
