MEJA GALINDO DIEGO 1. Figure P6.

75 shows a proposed device to develop power using energy supplied to the device by heat transfer from a high-temperature industrial process together with a steam input. The figure provides data for steadystate operation. All surfaces are well insulated except for the one at 527C, through which heat transfer occurs at a rate of 4.21 kW. Ignoring changes in kinetic and potential energy, evaluate the maximum theoretical power that can be developed, in kW.

2. Consider an ideal air-standard Brayton cycle with minimum and maximum temperatures of 300 K and 1500 K, respectively. The pressure ratio is that which maximizes the network developed by the cycle per unit mass of air flow. On a cold air-standard basis, calculate: a. the compressor and turbine work per unit mass of air flow, each in kJ/kg. b. the thermal efficiency of the cycle. c. Plot the thermal efficiency versus the maximum cycle temperature ranging from 1200 to 1800 K.
