Project Report

Objective: To cut internal buttress threads in a copper pipe.

MANUFACTURING:

SURVEY: It is difficult to make internal threads in a pipe of such a small diameter. As the length of pipe is large, so it is not possible to make threads in pipe using machining processes. We can make threads by manual approach or by cutting the pipe in small pieces. In case of manual approach, we have to make a tool of larger length, having cutting edges. And in case of small pieces we have to make the threads in small pieces and then join them by welding process.

FINDINGS: Simply there is no site in Taxila, Rawalpindi or Islamabad where we can make threads in a pipe of small diameter. Thats why we have to go to Lahore for this project. SOLUTION: Due to non-familiarity with the city of the Lahore, we have decided to do the threading by ourselves. We have visited the whole Rawalpindi and Islamabad city but were unable to find the copper pipe of require dimensions. CONCLUSION: It is requested to have a tolerance in the dimensions of the pipe because it is very difficult to find the proper dimensions.
