PUBLICATION (REPUBLICA) AWARDS In accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (R.A) No. 7722, otherwise known {as the “Higher Education Act of 1994”, for the purpose of promotingientrancing the research function of higher education institutions and pursuant to CEB Resolution No. 19 Series of ‘2000, CHED hereby issues the Revised Guidelines for the CHED REPUBLICA AWARDS |. RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES The role of research cannot be over emphasized. Research as an acedemic function differentiates higher education from basic education. The academe has traditionally been one of the mejor sources of knowledge and innovations mainly because of the research activities of university facullyresearchers. ‘The CHED REPUBLICA Awards are offered biennially to recognize and reward outstanding research outputs leading fo signiicant advances in prionty disciplines. and contributing to national development Il. AWARDS AND INCENTIVES, A total of thity four (34) awards are open at the regional and national levels under two major discipline cluster categories. Selection Criteria Nominees shall be evaluated and ranked on the basis of the following criteria: CRITERIA WEIGHT T General Criteria 70%. A. NOMINATION PROCEDURE 1. Obtain @ nomination form “from the CHED Regional Office (RO) or download from ‘ips! wa ched.gov oh (under "What's New) 2. Submit to the CHED Regional Office the accomplished nomination form in five (5) Copies together with the folowing: 2.1. nomination letter indicating -how the publication(s) meet(s) the award citeria 2.2, endorsement ofthe President of nominating HEt; 23. narrative summary of research (not more than 6 pages including tables and figures) ‘ 2.4. good quality photocdpes or reprints of nominated research publcaton(s) 3. Evaluation Committees are organized by the Commission at the regional and national levels with composition and Terms of Reference (TOR) as follows: 3.4. Regional Awards Board (RAB) 3.1.1. Composition Chair Researcher/Scientst who has published research outputs/received award for research within the last 3 years ‘Members: Two (2) researchersiscientiss: one (1) expert in category ‘and one (1) expert in category 2, from Research and Development insttutonsiresearch funding agencies! professional organizations. 34.2. TOR ‘Secure and process applications submitted to the Regional Office (RO), ‘+ Evaluate and rank the regional entries; Recommend the best four regional entries (2 for each category) for further review and confirmation by the National ‘Awards Board 1.2.
