Profiles in ArcGIS Viewer

Open the ArcGIS.com map viewer. http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html Choose a map and location. Save the map. The map is then saved in My Contents in ArcGIS Explorer. Then click on the Share button.

Choose who you want to share the map with and select Make a web application. This opens a new window with different map templates for you to choose from. In this case choose the Elevation Profile on page 2. The Elevation Profile tool can be opened from My Contents. To use it, click on the Measure tool. Choose the type of line, e.g. a straight line. Click at the start and double click at the end of the line you want to draw. A profile of the line is then drawn.
