EXHIBITION

S M A R T

Our Goals: Goal #1: During the months of April and May, the Grade 5 class will organize the shelves and books in the library room at Imperatriz Leopoldinha School in order for the school community to have a library that better meets their needs. Juliana and Nina are responsible for the planning of this project. Goal #2: During the months of April and May, Juliana and Nina will tutor the kindergarten class at Imperatriz Leopoldinha School in reading. Students will listen to stories read aloud by Juliana and Nina and show their understanding by completing reading response activities. Brainstorming ideas: S (Specific) Who: Nina, Ju (leaders), G5 class will help with cleaning and dusting, sorting books, Mr. East will help with painting, who will help us build the shelves? Maybe the NJHS group can help with this. What: Purchase shelves, sort books, paint walls, and create a reading corner. When: This needs to be completed by May 15. Where: Imperatriz Leopoldina. Why: Help the school set up a library so the students have access to books. The school does not have a librarian. M (Measureable) How many shelves are needed? How many book boxes are needed? How much paint is needed? What kind of books do they need? (fiction, non-fiction) How often will we go to the school and work? A (Action) We will need to write an action plan. We will need to plan for fundraising because the shelves, paint and pillows cost money! R (Realistic) Our first priority will be to purchase shelves. Second, is to collect more books for the library. Third, is to make the library comfortable by painting the walls and purchasing pillows for a reading corner. We realize that we might not be able to do all three things, but it is our goal.

We are planning to do a mini library for Grade 1 and K5 of the school, "Imperatriz Leopoldina". We will offer to donate shelves, books and other materials, in order for the kids to have more education. Our group already sorted books for Grade 1 and K5, but we could receive more book donations.
