ABSTRACT
Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is one of the photoelectrochemical cells comprising fotolektroda, dye, electrolytes, and counter electrode. This article presents some experimental the absorbtion spectrum and photoconductivity characteristic of natural dye isolated from melinjo (genetum genemon) and standard betacarotene were then as an sensitizer of DSSC. Test absorbtion spectrum using UV-Visible Spectrophotometer 1601 PC and test the electrical properties using Elkahfi 100/Meter IV. Results shown that the absorbtion spectrum of melinjo dye a similar range of 380-520 nm and photoconductivity biggest of melinjo dye is 9.58 10-6 Ohm-1.m-1 and 1.92 10-4 Ohm-1. m-1 in dark and light conditions, this make the dye isolated from melinjo (Genetum Genemon) can be used as a sensitizer. DSSC photoelectrochemical performance of melinjo dye and standard beta-carotene, the open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.5 V and short circuit photocurrent densities (J SC) 1.3 10-5 A/cm2. Photoelectric conversion efficiency from melinjo dye and standard beta-carotene is still low at 2.41 10-3 % and 3.17 10-3 %, respectively.
