Terrain : River of Styx leads to bubbling marsh and dreary swampland. Sin : Wrathful and Sullen Punishment : Wrathful constantly fighting; Sullen were buried under the marsh Justification : Wrathful were angry on earth, so they are constantly tearing each other apart; Sullen were depressed on the earth, so they are left in the dark. Sinners : Lost their identities Reaction : Virgil described what was going on, no major reactions River of Styx

Terrain : Sea of all Discernment, Smell of the Styx marsh still present Sinners/People : Phlegyas, Filippo Argenti Reactions : Dante was asking about the flames on the towers. Virgil described Filippo Argenti as an arrogant man who was loved by nobody. Dante wanted to see him covered in murk.

Terrain: Heavy fog and dark, there was a horrible smell from the marsh, high towers, loud from the winds, twister, souls running away, full of torment and distress Reactions: Dante was wondering if anyone else had made the journey and Virgil admits that no one had. Virgil was called by Erictho. People/others: Erictho, The Furies, the Erinny's- Megaera, Alectris, Tisphone, Medusa, Hydra

Terrain: Countryside/cemetery, people lying in tombs on fire Sin: Heretics Sinners: They can see the future but they cannot see the present. Reactions: Dante was conversing with them, guilty People/other: Farinata Degligli, Uberti, Cavalcante Dei Cavalcante, Importance of family to carry on the line (sons)
