MEDIA ALERT 29 May 2013

INDIGENOUS VETERANS DAY- 2013

RSL (Queensland Branch) is encouraging the community and all veterans to acknowledge the often forgotten participation of Indigenous servicemen and women in Australias wars and conflicts. Indigenous and non-Indigenous veterans and their supporters and families will gather in ANZAC Square this morning for a ceremony to acknowledge Indigenous Veterans Day. Indigenous service personnel have been involved in conflicts since the Boer War right up to the present day war in Afghanistan. This ceremony is an important part of reconciliation, recognising the efforts of Indigenous men and women who have served our country in times of conflict and in peace.
