Bester Elementary School

To Whom It May Concern: As the Assistant Principal at Bester Elementary, it has been my privilege to work with Mrs. Katherine Leifer for the past two and a half years. She has been a full time grade 4 teacher for two years and worked as a full time intervention teacher for half a year. During this time, I have been able to watch Mrs. Leifer teach and grow professionally. She is one of the most reflective practitioners with which I have worked. Mrs. Leifer is passionate about teaching and students. Mrs. Leifer collaboratively plans with her team, consistently using data from multiple resources, to differentiate her instruction. Mrs. Leifer takes into account the needs of her students while planning her lessons. She creates relationships with her students so that she can tailor her lessons to engage their interests. Mrs. Leifers lessons include focus questions which lead students to inquiry based learning. While students are engage in learning, Mrs. Leifer continually assesses each individual student making adjustments as needed to support and enhance learning. Mrs. Leifer creates a classroom environment in which students feel free to take risks and learning is valued by all. Mrs. Leifers calm and patient personality enables her to create a classroom which is steeped in respect and rapport not only from teacher to student, but also in student to student interactions. Mrs. Leifers energy and enthusiasm for teaching will greatly benefit students of any age. Her positive spirit and professionalism will also serve well with those who will work with her. She works well with her team and is willing to share ideas. She is a very reflective professional who is always finding ways to enhance her craft.
