MS Dynamics How-To

I. How Create an Account for NAV Account


a. Go to SQL Management Studio b. Login using Windows Authenticated Account.

c. Go to Security>Logins then right click on Logins then choose New Login

d. On General Tab, type the desired login name, then choose SQL Server Authentication, and then type your desired password.

e. On Server Roles Tab select the sysadmin

On User Mapping Tab select the following database i. YELLMANILA LIVE ii. TEST DATA BASE iii. Demo Database NAV g. Then Click OK h. Go to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Classic with Microsoft SQL Server

Go to Tools>Security>Database Logins

A new window will pop out, then on the User ID Column you type the account you created on SQL and then on the second column you can type the Full Name of the user or a description of the account

k. Highlight the newly added user ID then click on Roles

On the Role ID column click on the arrow then choose the desired role (access) you want the new user to have. Same goes for the Company

m. Click on Tools>Security>Synchronize All Logins this is to synchronize the newly created login.

Note: All changes that will be made on the role of any user it is a best practice to conduct a Synchronization of logins.

II. How to Assign Edit Roles


a. Go to Tools>Security> Roles

b. Select the Role that you want to edit then go to Role then Permissions

c. On the Object Type Column you need to select the type of object that you need you may choose on the following i. Table Data ii. Table iii. Form iv. Report v. Data Port vi. Code Unit vii. XMLport viii. MenuSuite ix. System x. Page d. On the Object Type ID it is necessary that you choose the correct Object ID number. You would also notice the succeeding column to have the following permission to Insert, Modify, Delete and Execute. Note: You must carefully check the error message that you encounter when you modify the access as this will be your guide if you are doing it correctly.
