Crusade Journals

The writing of individuals throughout history has allowed historians to learn and understand so much about the people who have lived in our past. Journals are one form of writing which helps historians look into the everyday lives of people throughout history. Journals described how people functioned throughout the day in a certain time period. Your assignment is to imagine that you are living during the Crusades and you have decided to take up the cross and travel to the holy land! You are to write a journal describing what you are doing and what you are seeing during the Crusades!! Use the following as guidelines in completing your journal - Assume the role of an individual during the Crusades - At least 5 vocabulary terms we have used throughout the unit - At least one page typed in length - Be creative and have fun Use the suggestions below to help you assume a role for your journal.

1) Are you the King of Jerusalem and in charge of defending the kingdom against Saladin's forces? 2) You could be a battle tested Knight who is fighting for his lord in the Crusades? 3) Are you a wife of a King or a wife of a knight called into battle. 4) You could be a member of the Catholic Church clergy who has taken up the cross and traveled to Jerusalem There are many different roles to choose from just remember to include what you are wearing, what you are eating, and of course what you are doing, seeing, and hearing!!!! Journal Assignment is worth 10 pts.
