What is Criminal Profiling?


Criminal profiling is the analysis and classification of an offender based on personal information such as ethnicity, habits, or behavioral patterns. Details of a crime are used to narrow down the possible suspects. The Modus Operandi, method of committing the crime, is what is used to narrow down and identify the suspect. Criminal profiling can make it easier to find criminals because it can be very accurate, whether its determining the age, occupation, race, or personality of the culprit. It lets authorities focus on smaller groups of suspects.
