Researching Peace and Conflict in Divided Societies (by distance learning)

Would you like to learn from leading academics and researchers based in INCORE (International Conflict Research Institute) which is associated to the United Nations University? Would you like to study for a qualification at home instead of coming into the university each week? An introduction to some of the key concepts, ideas and debates in the field of peace and conflict research An introduction to the theoretical understandings of the course, dynamics and resolution of societal conflict An introduction to the key methodological and ethical issues involved in carrying out research in divided societies Credit points from this short course can be used towards our PGC/PGD/MSc Social Research Skills with Specialisms. All your learning and teaching takes place via your computer at home or at work provided you have internet access Classes are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The course runs for 12 weeks and enrolment is now underway for the next available class beginning at the end of January 2013 A module coordinator to help you when you have queries A technical help desk (through Campus One, our virtual campus) We have developed this distance learning short course because we understand that you have to fit your study around your life and not vice versa. All of your lectures, class discussions and projects take place online so you never have to worry about lecture times or travelling to attend classes.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SHORT COURSE 1. Open University of Ulster Home Page at www.ulster.ac.uk 2. Click on How to apply in the QUICK LINKS boxed area 3. Click on All Other Courses 4. Scroll to bottom of page click on First Time User Account Creation (or if you already have a User Id and Pin No these must be entered here) This will take you to Admissions Login page where you need to create Login ID and Pin

5. This will take you to the screen Select Application Type 6. Selection - PG Distance Learning Programme and press continue 7. This will take you to Apply for Admission 8. Select Academic Term 2012-2013 and complete the rest of the personal details and then click on Fill out application 9. Complete the various Personal Information Sections and when you arrive at Programme Selection in the Programme Choice box - use the scroll down facility and select PG Cred Bear Module SS DL PT (This is short code for Post graduate credit bearing module - Social Sciences Distance Learning Part Time) 10. In the field Proposed Option please put the module Code here PCS802 11. Complete application form as normal.
