KEN PAXTON
TEXAS STATE SENATOR
Jun.ell,2Ol3
Chairman Irving A. Williamson U.S. International Trade Commission 500 E Street, SW Washington, DC 20436
Samsung Telecommunications America (STA), based in Richardson, TX and the Senate district I represent, employs more than 1,100 workers and contractors in Texas, many of whom are located in the Coppell, TX facility where the large majority of Sarnsung smartphones and tablets are packaged for U.S. distribution. In addition, Samsung Austin Semiconductor employs 5,000 workers and generates $1.5 billion in revenue each year, much of which is mneled back into the Texas economy.
The Texas Legislature wants to encourage more economic growth in our state, and an overly broad or difficult-to-interpret exclusion order could have unintended economic consequences for Texas workers, consumers and families.
Therefore, I hope the ITC will ensure that any exclusion order is crafted in such a way that does not harm Texas workers, consumers, and families. Thank you for your consideration of my views in this important matter.
With Regards,
Carnot.
