m&m Activity 1

1. Take a pack of m&m candies. 2. Empty the candies onto your napkin. 3. Sort your candies by color. 4. List the fraction of each color candy that you have in your pack. Reduce to lowest terms if possible. Blue Orange Red Green Yellow Brown

5. Put the fractions of the different colored candies in order from least to greatest.

6. Add the fractions of all three primary colored candies that you have. Reduce if possible.

7. Add the fractions of the two colors that make the color green. Reduce if possible.

8. Add the fractions of the two colors that make the color orange. Reduce if possible.

9. Subtract the smallest fraction you have from the largest fraction you have.

10. If you had 9 candies and 1/3 of them were red, how many red candies would you have?
