of Steve Irwin There once lived a man, so brave and bold. A man who never did get to grow old. He lived afar, in the land down under, doing things of such great wonder. He wrestled with animals oh so fierce, and captured them plenty for the education and enjoyment of his peers. Tales of his adventures brought him great fame, this brave bold man, Steve Irwin was his name. On this one day of his bright life, he wrestled a Great Big Croc with Terri, his wife. Casper was his name, and he was oh so fierce. With eyes so cold, your heart they'd peirce. But Brave Steve and Terri and the Australia Zoo Team jumped up on top and made short work out of him. They named him Casper, for he was pale as the moon. Then came the day not to be forgotten so soon. Alas, the day came in the year six and two thousand when brave bold Steve took the reaper's cold hand. Now he is gone, but his dreams do live on. Yet only fate knows what will happen with his zoo and his plans for conservation of his dearest friends of all. For there was one thing that Steve loved as much as his friends, family, and Aus tralia Zoo. He greatly loved the animals, too. What will become of his dear friends' home in the land down under, where people's hearts every day are filled with amazement and wonder? Will there ever be one such as he, who could let the animals and their habitats be, and live along side them in perfect harmony? The birds do sing a sad, sad song, and the cane toads sadly croak by the billabong. For on that fateful day on the Great Barrier Reef, when the stingray's barb his heart did peirce, even the biggest croc's eyes so fierce is now filled with grief and plenty salty tears. Who will cry, "Crikey!", at the sight of a snake instead of running and screaming, "Help me, for heaven's sake?" Who can fill those shoes and Khaki shorts better than he who wore them so well? Who can fill the void left now that he's gone? The animals lost a friend and defender. His family lost a husband and father. The world lost a Legend and Hero. Nay, no one can take his place! He was the one and only with such claim to fame, and Steve Irwin was his name.
