Spanish Consortium to Build a Stretch of Highway in Romania

Spanish news agency EFE reports that this work will be 85% financed by European funds, while the Romanian state will cover the rest of the cost of this section between the cities of Lugoj and Deva, in the west of the country. The consortium is made up of the Spanish firms Comsa and Aldesa Construccin and the Romanian ones Arcadis Eurometudes and Teloxim CON. According to EFE, the contract will run for six and a half years, of which six months will be dedicated to project planning and two years to construction, followed by a four-year guarantee. The winning firms chosen to construct the sections of this 72-kilometre highway were publicised nine months following the end of the tender process. Meanwhile, Sacyr, ACS and OHL are also bidding in Chile, through various consortia, to build what will be the largest suspension bridge in Latin America. It will link the island of Chilo to the Chilean mainland. The bridge, which will be called Chacao, will be 2.6 kilometres in length and will cost US$740 million (around ?575 million).
