14 in LOD 2 of Time Speed Distance chapter in Arun Sharma's Quant book: Two indian tourists in the US cycled towards each other, one from point A and the other from point B. The first tourist left point A 6 hrs later than the second left point B, and it turned that he travelled 12 km less than the second tourist. After their meeting, they kept cycling with the same speed, and the first tourist arrived at B 8 hours later and the second arrived at A 9 hours later. Find the speed of the faster tourist. (a) 4 km/hr (b) 6 km/hr (c) 9 km/hr (d) 2 km/hr (e) 5 km/hr
after both meet 1st goes 8a km and 2nd goes 9b km we have 8a= 9b+12 ---(1); use the options u will find the answer. for more puritan approach, the 12 km less traveled by 1st is due to 6b km traveled by 2nd. this 6b cld have been trvld by both in 6b/(a+b) hrs. and 1st cld have gone 6ab/(a+b) km so 6ab/(a+b) = 12 --(2) ; pick b in terms of a and put in the eqtn 1 u have the soltn: a=6 kph;b=4 kph

Two joggers left Delhi for Noida simultaneously. The first jogger stopped 42 min later when he was 1 km short of Noida and the other one stopped 52 min later when he was 2 km short of Noida. If the first jogger jogged as many kilometers as the second jogger and the second as many kilometer as the first, the first one would need 17 min less than the second. Find the distance between Delhi & Noida ?ANS 15 km
the equations formed (x-1)/a = 42 (x-2)/b = 52 (x-1)/b - (x-2)/a = 17
