To recognise what FLOWOL is and what it is used for To be able to use FLOWOL to create a flow chart to control a simple mimic

To be able to choose a mimic based on confidence create a control flow system to control it

1. Click the lighthouse button

4. Click the shapes for your flow chart then the blank canvas

2. Scroll down to the ZEBRA Mimic and click OK

5. When you select a symbol, you need to define its purpose using the box below. For example to turn output 1 on click the following Turn Output 1 Output On then OK

3. Click the button to the right of the lighthouse to view the Mimic labels
6. Press play to check it works!

Depending on your confidence, chose a Mimic to control using Flowol
1. Complete the Light House Mimic, including Subroutines (confident)

2. Complete the Traffic Lights Mimic controlling 2 sets of lights (fairly confident)

Your flowchart should include at least 1 decision and a Subroutine. We will use them next lesson.

Start/Stop/Sub: Use at the start


and end of each routine. Use Sub for a sub routine.

Edit: Click on the Edit Tool (or use


right mouse button) when you need to highlight symbols, lines, labels or section of flowchart. They can then be erased, changed or moved.

Output: Used to control outputs,


such as lights. Use the prompts to make your selection.

Line: Use the Line Tool to link the


symbols together to create the flowchart.

Process: Used to select a delay for


an output, call up a sub routine or set up a variable. Use the prompts to make your selection.

Decision: Use the Decision symbol


to decide if "Yes do this" or "No do that".

Start/Stop: Start / Stop button to


run or stop the program.
