Group Assignment for next session of Business Strategy on 15th June 2013.The assignment is based on TI Cycles. 1.

The Board of Directors of TI cycles has decided on the following objectives as part of its new vision a. It wants to be the global leader [No. 1] in bicycles business b. Wants to achieve global cost leadership through economies of scale c. wants to enhance the scope of products to offer bicycles for every segment and every age.

2. Given the above vision your group has been given the task of reorganizing the firm and its business so that the firm can achieve the vision given by its board of directors. 3. In executing the task you are guided by your mentor to carry out the following types of analysis a. Five forces analysis as in 1999 b. Portfolio Analysis of the firm as in 1999 c. Elements of strategy from the company's history and how you would like to reconfigure the elements to achieve the task that you are given d. Analyse the three businesses of the firm [ ref Peter Drucker's paper "Theory of Business"] and also analyse the scope of unbundling the firm to achieve the task at hand 4. Based on the above analyses you are required to formulate a strategy with specific focus on the following a. structure of the businesses and organisation b. marketing strategy [domestic and International] c. Technology and Knowledge strategy d. Manufacturing strategy

5. Each group will be making a presentation on the above lines. Most of the time to be given to para 4 above and less to the analysis [ analysis to be done by the group; we are not interested in hearing the full details]. The presentation will be peer-evaluated.
