Due Thursday 13 June A Look at Okeghems Marian motet Intemerata Dei Mater, attached, measures 9 (second measure of p. 4)-20 ONLY. 1. Sing all voices. Are they equally melodious? Do they move at the same pace? Is imitation used? They are equally melodious, move at similar paces, and imitation is not used. 2. Look at declamation. Is it basically syllabic, neumatic, or melismatic? The declamation is syllabic. 3. When you listen to the piece, can you tell where the cadences occur? Is the music well articulated? Cadences are well articulated in the piece. 4. How can you describe the texture, generally speaking (use terms such as homophonic, contrapuntal, unified, layered, simple, or complex, light, or dark)? By using conventions common in Renaissance music to compare and analize against other pieces of the same period.
