NEW TEACHER APPOINTMENT PROCEDURE

Queens High Preschool

CRITERIA USED TO APPOINT A NEW TEACHER

1. Applicant to have relevant qualifications, current police vet and first aid cert.

2. All applicant s should bring a complementary dimension to the preschool culture,


and strength in a particular teaching area. e.g. - art, music, literacy, numeracy,
sport, drama or Te Reo.

Applications who apply to the criteria will be short-listed and suitable applicants will
be notified for interview.

INTERVIEW PROCEDURE

1. Interview panel of three – Supervisor, Chairperson and one other Trust


member.
2. An arranged visit to preschool to mix / interact with the children and teachers
prior to the interview process.
3. Formal interview:
a) outline of the special nature of pre-school
b) outline of the structure of our pre-school
c) explain the job description.
d) ask the applicant about their knowledge and experience of Te Whariki
e) ask the applicant about their strengths and qualities which they can offer.
f) information on the applicant’s physical and medical history.
g) give applicant an opportunity to add any other information they wish to offer
in support of their application

4. All applicants will be notified in writing.
