id/spm Identification of premier commodity agribusiness development area in West Java

In a decentralization system, a premier-commodity development has to be done based upon the area resource-potential variability and a communication with a local regency authority. This research objectives were to identify a potential for West Java premier commodity based upon each regency potential, identify a delineation of each commodity producers area, and recognize problems in developing premier commodity agribusiness development area in West Java. The method used was a descriptive research method. The research identified 20 commodities that are potential to be West Java premier commodities. Additionally, there were 4 unique commodities that can be promoted as local authentic premier commodities. There were also 41 other commodities that have potential to be developed as premier commodities. Existing producer areas of the identified premier commodities already agglomerated in several areas and also signs of growing commodity specialization. The research also found that there were generally weak links and crucial points between agribusiness subsystem that need to be addressed seriously in planning and implementation stages.
