Professional Successes of Joe Jordano

Introduction

Currently a consultant with Academy Medical, Joel Dombkowski spent the first part of his career in baseball. At Mercyhurst University, he was catcher under coach Joe Jordano, who brought Dombkowski with him as assistant coach when he became baseball head coach of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. They guided the franchise for more than 15 seasons.

About Coach Joe Jordano

The all-time winningest coach in University of Pittsburgh Panthers baseball history, Jordano started in this field in 1987. A graduate of Westminster College, Jordano was head coach with Mercyhurst University, an NCAA Division II school, for the first decade of his career. During his tenure, the baseball program ranked in the Top 10 of Division II schools, and he earned numerous Coach of the Year awards.

Conclusion

After being hired by the University of Pittsburgh in 1997, Joe Jordano continued his reputation for excellence. The team was dropping in status when he joined the organization, and he turned it around in just one year. His third season saw the team achieve its first 30-win season in five years and make it to the Big East Tournament. Over the next 15 years, the team reached the Big East Tournament several times. Additionally, more than 50 University of Pittsburgh players coached by Jordano entered professional baseball.
