Photolight The smart solar streetlight

December 2012

Public lighting : a challenging financial issue

Electric streetlight spending represents a very high cost for a city or hypermarket : 1) The lighting consumption for a city of 100,000 inhabitants represents 40% of its annual power consumption which is around 700,000 per year (1). 2) In a year, a supermarket with 80 poles in the car park area spends on average 55,000 just for its electricity and maintenance bill (1)

Photolight streetlights are the answer to both environmental and financial concerns

(1) Results based on figures from the syndicat de lclairage in France and including electricity and maintenance costs.

Ecological and eco-friendly lighting

An innovative concept in complete harmony with the objective of the greenest government ever No power supply required: thanks to the solar cells, the solar power guarantees 100% of the consumption required. CO2-emission free A simple installation with no wiring required and therefore no trenches. The installation is fast, the area is unaffected, and the installation cost is lower when compared to any electric street light Low-cost maintenance - The lifespan of a LED lamp is 30,000 hours compared to 8 000 to 12 000 hours for a standard light bulb. - Increased protection (IP67) against the intrusion of solid objects and liquids enabling a constant photometric capacity of the light resulting in less maintenance.

Sleek and modern design

Different heights available from 3,20 to 5,80 m depending on the CURVE or STRAIGHT (STR8) model
Width 25 cm

Curve model

3 heights available : 4 m, 5 m and 5,60/5,80 m (depending on the wind zone)

Straight model

Straight shape ideal for street lighting, no height issue for trucks 4 heights available : 3,20 m, 4 m, 5 m and 5,80 m LEDs can be installed on both sides of the pole with different light power if necessary : - High intensity on the roadside, low intensity on the sidewalk - High intensity on both sides

Straight model

LIGHTY

Height : 1,50 m LEDs can be installed on both sides of the pole with different light power if necessary : High intensity on the roadside, low intensity on the sidewalk High intensity on both sides

Smart lighting

Settings for luminous intensity can be programmed on an hourly or daily basis

An automatic light sensor detects dusk and dawn and can therefore override any manual programming. Option to add a motion sensor to modify the intensity of the light when someone over 30kg is near the streetlight (the 30 kg limit prevents the detection of animals). These different settings can be made via a computer or with a smartphone, individually or for a group of streetlights (coming in the course of 2012)

Energy saving with scheduled light intensity, movement sensors, darkness detection

A powerful lighting
A light source in compliance with the EN 13201 standard
This standard defines the different level of Lux (minimum and maximum) required in streets, car park areas For instance : 3 poles with a height of 5 m (with 30 Watt LEDs) fixed on the ground every 20 m diffuse light on an area of 60 m long and 5 m wide. The power of the pole in maximum lighting goes from 30 Lux to 5 Lux on a strip of 5 m wide.

Additional options coming soon

Wireless security camera CCTV (closed-circuit television) - Wi-Fi connection to the Internet - 2Mpixel HD camera enabling detection of small details up to a distance of 20 m. - Detection of human beings only - Alarm or alert via e-mail with the picture of the intruder -SD card with wireless data collection and 5-day memory capacity Sensors allowing the measurement of the temperature, humidity, pollution or radioactivity rate. Internet hotspot providing internet access to anyone within a 20 metre radius, via 3G or Wi-Fi Hybrid streetlight for low sun areas. An electrical car charging station can also be added

Secured streetlights

Security plus This feature adds polycarbonate Makrolon UV panels on top of the solar panel for maximum protection. Makrolon UV panels transparency is warranted for more than 10 years. For example, this type of protection is used by police force in several countries. With this option, Photolight will be able to resist to vandal acts like stone throwing. A key with a unique footprint is used to lock the panel which is removed to access the batteries for maintenance

IK 10 rating
This rating classifies the resistance to mechanical impact: 10 is the highest rating and corresponds to a drop of a 5 kg object from a 40 cm height.

A simple installation

No wiring required and therefore no trenches ! Standard prefabricated blocks can be used and ordered from local distributors.

Solar energy is calculated as the electrical power delivered by a solar panel in conditions of a standard amount of sunshine (1000 Watts/m2) and temperature (25C); it is measured in Watt-peak.

Illumination for the Curve model

It consists of the luminosity perceived by the eye, and is measured in lux. The lux is used as the reference frame to define, in the French and European legislation, the minimum illumination required for public lighting and lighting at work. One lux is the illumination of an area receiving a uniformly distributed luminous flow of 1 lumen per metre square. 1 lux = 1 lumen/m2 This luminosity varies with the height of the streetlight: the smaller the streetlight, the more concentrated the luminosity is in terms of surface area.
