Since the first days of the protests, the First Amendment writes of the protesters had been violated. Laws were made specifically to cripple their movement. At times, their possessions were taken by force, for the sole purpose of removing their encampment. The city made laws against the protesters just as fast as they could find ways to counter them. At one point, the whole camp was arrested, and hauled away in vans. The protesters say that this action was a violation of there rights to Free Speech. Also, when the police ravaged their camp and hauled them away, their Rights of Assembly were violated. This event will remain to be viewed as a great controversy for some time to come.
